Accredited course CPC-CBT (KIBB) treatment model

KIBB’s treatment model is a manual-based CBT treatment for families where physical child abuse has occurred.

The KIBB training is conducted by certified Swedish KIBB trainers who have extensive clinical experience in family treatment and as KIBB therapists. Lecturers who have done research on KIBB and child abuse in Sweden participate on a few occasions.

Extent

The goal is for the course participant to become a certified KIBB therapist. Estimated time for the participants during the training period is about 1 day/week. In that time is included:

• 4 seminars (1-4)
• Preparation and reading of course material
• CPC- CBT treatment of 1 family during at least 16 weeks (requires at least two therapists)
• 12 Telephone/Skype/Teams supervisions

Seminars 1-4 are in boarding format. They start at lunch day 1 and end at lunch day 3. Seminar 4 starts with lunch day 1 and ends at lunch day 2.

The course will be held in English. The course manual is available in English or Swedish

• Preparation and reading of course material
• Treatment of 1 family for at least 16 weeks
• Tutoring digitally on 12 occasions
• The seminars 1 – 3 are boarding. They start with lunch on day 1 and end with lunch on day 3.
• Seminar 4 starts with lunch on day 1 and ends on day 2 in the afternoon.

The course participants also have access to a common web project site for the KIBB training where there is the opportunity to ask questions and share documents.

The working method is shorter lectures interspersed with group work and exercises. Great emphasis is placed on training the different parts of the treatment and reflecting on these. After completing the course, the course participant should have good knowledge of which theories KIBB treatment is based on, have acquired knowledge of how KIBB treatment is carried out in practice and have completed KIBB treatment with a family under supervision.
